Army Commander Tycoon Tier List — All 44 Units Ranked
There are 44 units across 9 spawn buildings: 9 free starters, 23 Cash unlocks, 9 Gold ELITE units and 3 that unlock on a set future date. This tier list ranks them by what actually matters — unlock cost against role, and whether the promotion lock is worth waiting for.

How This List Is Ranked
Units are ranked on three axes: cost efficiency (what you get for the Cash or Gold price), role scarcity (how hard it is to counter with something else you own), and accessibility (whether it needs a promotion you do not have yet). A unit that is strong but locked behind Promotion 3 ranks lower than one you can field in your first hour, because the early game decides how fast you reach the expensive toys.
| Tier | Meaning |
|---|---|
| S | Unlock immediately; dominates its role for the cost |
| A | Strong and efficient; unlock as soon as the building exists |
| B | Situationally excellent; unlock when a specific problem appears |
| C | Overpriced for what it adds, or redundant with a cheaper unit |
| D | Gold-only, or locked so late that the game is effectively over |
S Tier
These are the unlocks that change your account the moment you buy them. Every one is a free starter or a sub-$300K Cash purchase, which is exactly why they are S tier — value per dollar beats raw stats.
| Unit | Building | Cost | Role | Why S |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rifleman | Troop Tent | Free | Line infantry | Free, replaceable, floods capture points |
| Medic | Support Tent | Free | Support | Free heals keep your free infantry alive |
| Quad Bike | Light Garage | Free | Recon | Free speed for early map control |
| Main Battle Tank | Heavy Garage | Free | Assault | Free starter tank at HQ 3 — absurd value |
| Machine Gunner | Troop Tent | $25.0K | Suppression | Cheapest hard counter to infantry rushes |
| Breacher | Troop Tent | $2,500 | Close assault | Near-free upgrade over Rifleman |
Notice that five of the six S-tier units are free. Army Commander Tycoon front-loads enormous value into the starters — if you are spending Gold before you have every free unit unlocked, you are doing it wrong.
A Tier
The workhorses. None of them are cheap, but each solves a real problem at a fair price and stays relevant after you promote.
| Unit | Building | Cost | Requirement | Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marksman | Troop Tent | $200K | Promotion 1 | Sniper — outranges free infantry |
| Rocketeer | Troop Tent | $300K | Promotion 1 | Anti-tank — the answer to free MBTs |
| Engineer | Support Tent | $150K | Promotion 1 | Vehicle support and repair |
| Recon Buggy | Light Garage | $30.0K | None | Cheap gun platform |
| Armoured Car | Armour Depot | Free | HQ 3 | Free gun platform at armour tier |
| APC | Armour Depot | $800K | Promotion 1 | Transport that survives contact |
| Anti-Air Tank | Heavy Garage | $2.50M | Promotion 1 | Only reliable anti-air before aircraft |
| Attack Helicopter | Helipad | $5.00M | Promotion 1 | First gunship; transforms map pressure |
| Patrol Boat | Boat Dock | Free | HQ 2 | Free naval gun platform |
| Corvette | Naval Yard | Free | HQ 4 | Free naval assault at the top tier |
B Tier
Good units held back by price, timing, or redundancy. Unlock them when a specific problem shows up rather than on principle.
| Unit | Building | Cost | Requirement | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grenadier | Troop Tent | $1.20M | Promotion 2 | Area denial; expensive for infantry |
| Special Forces | Troop Tent | $6.00M | Promotion 3 | Elite infantry at a tank price |
| Transport Truck | Light Garage | $60.0K | None | Useful only for coordinated pushes |
| Scout Car | Light Garage | $250K | Promotion 1 | Recon Buggy does it cheaper |
| IFV | Armour Depot | $3.00M | Promotion 2 | Solid but outclassed by free MBT |
| SP Howitzer | Heavy Garage | $4.00M | Promotion 2 | Indirect fire needs spotting |
| Transport Helicopter | Helipad | Free | HQ 4 | Free but fragile air assault |
| Fighter | Airstrip | Free | HQ 4 | Free air superiority starter |
| Landing Craft | Boat Dock | $150K | None | Free boat usually suffices |
| Gunboat | Boat Dock | $900K | Promotion 1 | Middle of the naval ladder |
| Missile Boat | Boat Dock | $2.50M | Promotion 1 | Pricey for a gun platform |
C and D Tier
These are the purchases that look impressive on the card and disappoint in play — usually because a free unit already does the job, or because the promotion lock arrives after the relevant phase of the game.
| Unit | Cost | Requirement | Why it ranks low |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rocket Artillery | Free | HQ 3 | Free but outranged by SP Howitzer |
| Warden Heavy Tank | $12.0M | Promotion 3 | MBT is free; marginal gain for $12M |
| Strike Jet | $7.00M | Promotion 2 | Fighter is free at the same tier |
| Bomber | $20.0M | Promotion 3 | Enormous cost, late availability |
| Destroyer | $25.0M | Promotion 3 | Corvette is free; 25M for a small upgrade |
| Flame Trooper | 399 Gold | — | Gold cost for a short-range infantry role |
| Delta Commando | 599 Gold | — | Gold cost; Special Forces fills it for Cash |
| Gunship | 999 Gold | — | Gold-only duplicate of Attack Helicopter |
| Drone Swarm | 799 Gold | — | Gold-only; situational |
| Battle Mech | 1,499 Gold | — | Most expensive Gold unit; not 1,499 Gold better |
| Stealth Bomber | 1,299 Gold | — | Gold-only heavy bomber |
| AC-130 Spectre | 1,499 Gold | — | Gold-only; same tier as Battle Mech |
| Hovercraft | 499 Gold | — | Gold for a Boat Dock role |
| Battleship | 999 Gold | — | Gold-only naval assault |
Warning: Every Gold ELITE unit is permanently free to re-field once bought, which is the only real argument for them. But none of them earn income. If you have $20M of unpurchased Cash units in a branch, finish that ladder before spending a single Gold on ELITE.
Units That Have Not Unlocked Yet
| Unit | Cost | Opens | Building |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mortar Team | $9.00M | Sat 7 Nov | Troop Tent |
| Submarine | $60.0M | Sat 14 Nov | Naval Yard |
| Aircraft Carrier | $90.0M | Sat 21 Nov | Naval Yard |
The Aircraft Carrier at $90.0M will be the most expensive unit in the game when it opens. Given the pattern of the naval ladder — where the free Corvette already covers assault — the question worth asking is whether it adds a new capability or just a bigger number.
